FROM THE MOMBLOG

More Than 1 Job Mom

I'm really not sure when the overwhelming urge to have my fingers in more than one pie became an obsession. I'm guessing being the state officer for Washington D.E.C.A. (a business type club that had you competing all over the nation and winning a free trip to Hawaii in my day) in High School sort of struck a cord. I remember feeling on top of the world and eating up recognition by hundreds of students and faculty as I crossed the stage as the new "Parliamentarian" for Washington State.Looking back I think that moment truly helped me to define who I was and why succeeding in business would become a powerful part of me.

I also grew up in a home with a father who was/is an entrepreneur. He had tried and failed at many businesses before he settled in financial services. I grew up learning the pitfalls and blessings of money and how it made bad people worse and good people better. I also realized that in business, money was how people kept score. You were either making it or resenting those that did. My father's business continued to thrive and prosper and I joined forces with him on a part time basis to educate friends and acquaintances on how to save for retirement, college funds, and buy financial products wholesale vs. retail. This education has served me well and though I continue to do this "on the side" I realized this year that I needed to truly find my passion and recognition with something I loved whole heartedly.

This leads me to the blog title above that I know rings true for millions of moms sharing this lifestyle. Currently I manage 6 different "jobs." They are very different and very taxing and I honestly believe that I can manage this down to 2-3 jobs in the next 2 years. The challenge is that I need all of them to get to that point! This blog is dedicated to those that are doing what it takes to live their dreams and follow their passion while they maneuver a family and other jobs that help make getting to the Promised Land possible. Stay tuned to hear about each business, how I manage time, family, money, and my sanity while pursuing my dreams and passion to find the lifestyle and legacy I want to enjoy and leave for generations to come!
